Italian bike giant Bianchi has just released a whole new range of e-bikes, called e-Omnia. Ranging from city bikes through tourers to mountain bikes, the e-Omnia builds on the e-SUV bikes that were launched back in 2019.  “Bianchi is taking a significant step forwards in the electric revolution”, says the company. “The new E-Omnia family defines an innovative riding approach, helping people move better and smarter in everyday life.”

The e-SUV range used carbon frames, and the e-Omnia brings some of the tech of those bikes down to a more affordable level. When we say “affordable”, these bikes aren’t cheap: the cheapest build of the city bike starts at around €3,300, and you can easily spend over twice that for one of the full-suspension touring or MTB models with some extra bells and whistles.

The range consists of three different types of bike, and six different frame designs. The C-Type bike is the city build, with a step-through frame and integrated rack. The T-Type touring bike has a similar back end and is available as a standard diamond frame or with a dropped top tube. There’s a full-suspension frame too, which uses a linkage design and keeps the integrated rack. The X-Type mountain bike comes as a hardtail or a full-suspension bike, with a more traditional linkage design.

So there’s plenty of variation in the frames but they’re all obviously part of the same family, and share the same design language. The integrated lighting that we saw on the e-SUV bikes is back: you get front lights in the head tube which wrap around to give some side visibility, and rear lights in the seatstays, all powered from the internal battery. The bikes are also available with integrated ABS; it looks like Bianchi is using the internal Blubrake system and not Bosch’s bar-mounted unit.

All of the bikes are specced with the Bosch Performance Line CX motor, which is hard to beat with its 85Nm of available torque. The bikes are available with 500Wh or 625Wh internal batteries, and the T-Type touring bike can also be specced with a dual-battery system to give 1kWh of capacity, and increase the range.

There are a lot of options, and to cover them Bianchi has built an online configurator tool so that you can spec the bike up to your needs. Bianchi says that there are 8,500 different combinations available.

Sound good? It does to 2016 Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg, who’s come on board as an ambassador for the e-Omnia. “Formula 1 taught me there’s always a solution if you’re prepared to tear up the rulebook”, he says. “Bianchi has made it their mission to change the way we move around, and I believe in a greener world of e-mobility where e-bikes are part of the solution.
