Kinesis has launched its first electric commuter bike. Lyfe is an upright, hybrid style e-bike that is billed as “the apartment dweller’s friend,” on the basis that it is is “easy to lift and easy to live with.”
At 17kg, it’s certainly not the heaviest, although you can certainly find lighter options out there.
As with many e-bikes that are striving to remain light and skippy, assistance is from Mahle’s rear hub drive Ebikemotion X35 system.
This is powered by a 250Wh battery that is situated inside the downtube.
You get three levels of assistance, which we generally feel is a sensible number.
The Lyfe also features a Shimano Deore 1x10 drivetrain and Tektro Hydraulic Disc Brakes.
Mudguards, a kickstand, a rack and integrated lights complete the package.
The bike’s available from June 18 in slate blue and wood sage. Prices start at £2,200.
