With the new SK-eRIDE from Scott, the idea is to reach places in the snow where cars and your own two feet can't - and it certainly looks the thing for the job to get you to the ski slopes without burning up all your energy.

A 'winter approach bike' is probably something that 99.9% of us wouldn't consider essential (well, it might come in handy today in most parts of the UK) but there are some impressive touches all the same. The huge number of storage options and mounting points mean you needn't do your back in carrying ski equipment, as it can all be attached to the bike. It's built around Scott's Axis EVO Alloy Frame, with a TwinLoc suspension system and the Shimano STEPS E8000 motor. Add in Schwalbe's Ice Spiker Pro studded tyres, a dynamo USB system, Speedguide 95 skis (an optional purchase) and plenty of straps for luggage and you've got a seriously beasty machine that laughs in the face of snow.
