"Who says you can’t go on adventurous cycling tours with children?", say Dutch bike brand Babboe... and their new e-cargo bike, the Babboe Slim Mountain, is certainly proving to be the machine to do it with, as one family of four are currently pedalling across Europe on one of the bikes.
Described as "the perfect mode of transportation to discover the world together with your children", the bike is designed to be extra slim to make it more manoeuvrable round tight corners and in built-up areas. Your sprogs sit in a straight line in front of you to keep things stable and balanced, and it comes with a cushion set, lap seatbelts and a safety bar surrounding the seating area to keep everyone safe and comfortable. A double kickstand means you can park it up quickly and easily, and you can also add accessories such as a backrest, foot rail and a rear carrier if you want extra comfort and/or extra storage.
The power comes courtesy of Yamaha in the form of a mid-drive motor with a force sensor, and it uses the Enviolo Nuvinco steplesss shifting system that just requires a twist to adjust the power higher or lower. Babboe say the motor should be good for a range between 24-37 miles depending on the load and the terrain you're riding over.
Front and rear disc brakes ensure decent stopping power, and there are battery powered AXA LED front and rear lights fitted as standard.
To show just how up for a long adventure the bike is, an intrepid family have been sharing the story of their epic 600km ride across Europe. Juge and James Lei left Amsterdam last week with their two children, and are aiming to ride back to their home in Southampton via Germany, Belgium and France. They decided they loved the bike so much that it was only right to go on holiday with it, so off they went! You can follow their progress on social media via Babboe's Facebook and Instagram accounts.
The Babboe Slim Mountain is available now from £3,549 via their UK website, click here to find out more.
