The chainless folding e-bike known as Jivr is aiming for €850,000 of investment through the Seedrs investment platform, with €633,000 already raised through 121 investors and counting already. Jivr claim their machine is "the world’s best folding, electric, chainless smart bike".
The futuristic-looking folder packs in a lot of technology in a small space, weighing in at 18kg in total. It also folds upright with both wheels together so you can cart it, a really smart idea in our book.
If you're wondering where the chain is, there isn't one... Jivr have instead concealed a belt drive into the frame with a single gear ratio, and they claim the drivetrain is 92% efficient. Full internal routing means no oil or stains, so you can wear your work clothes and know you're not going to ruin your frshly pressed trousers (unless it rains, of course). It also makes the bike incredibly easy to care for, with next to no drivetrain maintenence neccessary.
Instead of a display, Jivr is paired with your smartphone so you can keep a track of the battery level and power, plus routing advice and other techy features. The battery is Jivr's own bespoke bluetooth-enabled battery management system. Aerospace grade aluminium, 160mm disk brake rotors and Shimano calipers plus a proproetry asymmetric seatpost with a quick-release mechanism make for a high-spec bike.
You can already buy a bike on Jivr's online shop, with the white version coming in at €3,199.00. There are also lots of colour options (including the gold one in the main pic) which costs €3,398.00. You can check out the Jivr website here and their Seedrs campaign here.
